The JPMorgan Chase Legal Department is responsible for providing legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation’s lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
About the Office of Legal Obligations. The Office of Legal Obligations (OLO) is a firmwide program responsible for developing and executing a sustainable infrastructure and process that (i) documents JPMorgan Chase’s Obligations arising from material laws, rules and regulatory requirements and (ii) connects the Obligations to policies, when applicable, as well as to procedures or other documentation that support compliance with those laws, rules and regulatory requirements.
The overall OLO program goal is to improve the control environment regarding the laws and regulations of the firm. The OLO program helps allow the firm to trace end-to-end connections between laws, rules, regulations and policies and procedures.
For the program, JPMC requires a project manager to support cross-enterprise efforts of lawyers to monitor, identify and document laws, rules and regulations affecting JPMC’s products. The role requires significant cross-functional collaboration, including with line of business lawyers, as well as counterparts in Controls Management.
The successful candidate will be part of the Asia Pacific OLO Team in the Legal Department and must have strong analytical and collaborative skills, be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within the team and be a true “self-starter.”
The role will report functionally (hard line) to a manager in Singapore and with a dotted line to a local supervisor in India.
Primary Responsibilities will include:
Assist in providing analytical support to the APAC OLO Legal team.
Assist in the development and update of project management and workflow tools, including preparation of templates for senior reporting and tracking tools.
Identify process efficiencies and implement continuous improvements.
Import/export information to/from legal core applications.
Assist the members of the team in preparing key weekly/monthly reports and presentations.
Provide support in-region to Office of the General Counsel (OGC) initiatives (e.g., metrics collection, deployment of new technologies).
Collaborate with team members across lines of business and cross functional teams. Drive and facilitate discussions and activities across functional teams to ensure a coordinated effort.
Collaborate with others on initiatives to develop and maintain Legal Obligations and monitor changes in laws, regulations, and other regulatory sources.
Occasional research to support special projects as needed.
Expense administration, including the tracking of external vendor engagements and invoice processing.
Occasional administrative duties, such as coordination of travel, distribution/collection of information, assisting with documentation management.
A law graduate from a premier law school in India preferred;
Minimum 3 Years PQE in professional practice or in a similar role with an MNC or Legal BPO;
Ability to interact and communicate effectively at a local, regional and global level;
Competency in the use of technology, documentation management systems, shared databases and on-line tools for legal research will be viewed favourably;
Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills;
Experience creating complex metrics reports or related experience
Advanced PC skills including Power Point, Visio and Excel
Data driven analytics experience strongly preferred
Ability to identify and escalate issues timely and appropriately;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and within tight deadlines.
