What is a Junior Merit Scholarship?

The Government of Odisha offers the Junior Merit Scholarship under the ‘e-medhabruti’ Scheme, through the School & Mass Education Department. Odisha Sarkar gives 10,000 students financial assistance.

Junior Merit ScholarshipEligibility

  • i. The student must be a permanent resident of Odisha State.
  • ii. The Student must have passed HSC with 60% or more marks from an
    institution recognized by BSE Odisha, CBSE, ICSE, or Equivalent Boards, and
    pursuing regular Class XI courses of 10+2.
  • iii. The income of the parents of the students from all sources should not exceed
    Rs.6.00 lakh per an~dm.
  • iv. Students shall apply for the Junior Merit Scholarship in the year of Joining of
    the course (Class XI) for Fresh and in Class XII for Renewal.

Under the ‘e-medhabruti’ Scheme in Odisha, a total of 10,000 meritorious students are selected to receive a scholarship. Each selected student is awarded ₹3,000 per year for 2 years.

What is INSPIRE scholarship?

Inspire Scholarship for Higher Education is a program by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The Inspire Scholarship scheme aims to provide financial assistance to students who have passed Class 12 and wish to pursue courses in Basic and Natural Science. Selected applicants will receive a monthly Inspire scholarship amount of Rs. 5000 and a mentorship grant of INR 20,000 per year.

    • Achieved top 1% aggregate marks in Class XII examination from any State/Central Education Board in India.

    • National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholars.
    • Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) scholars.
    • International Olympiad medallists.
  6. INSPIRE Age Limit
    • INSPIRE age limit should be between the age group of 17-22 years

Only students who have completed their XII standard examination and enrolled in B.Sc., B.S., Int. M.Sc./M.S. degrees in Basic and Natural Sciences can apply for the INSPIRE Scholarship Scheme in the same year.
